A portrait made of light
This is a lithophane: a thin, finely printed portrait whose changing thickness lets different amounts of light through. With the backlight on, soft highlights and shadows reveal the face.
With the light off, the image recedes and the panel’s shallow surface texture becomes visible. The gallery shows the same portrait in both states under the same studio lighting.
Size, finish & frame
Choose a 15 × 18, 20 × 24 or 25 × 30 cm portrait panel. The framed outside sizes are 18 × 21, 23 × 27 and 28 × 33 cm respectively.
The fine wooden border matches our relief portraits. Choose natural wood with visible grain, painted white wood or painted black wood. A deeper back accommodates the lighting.
The studio examples show the 15 × 18 cm size. Light output and the final material finish are confirmed during production review.
Light & materials
A white printed panel sits in front of a diffused backlight. We are developing the portrait for both white PLA and white resin, and will confirm the material, lighting and power details before your order is finalised.
